The Fund Development Coordinator reports directly to the Director of Advancement and works in coordination with the Executive Director and collaboratively with all staff members of A Child's Place.  The primary responsibilities of this position are to manage all aspects of the donor database, assist in prospect identification and stewardship activities while providing exemplary customer service, and nurturing stakeholder relationships with a true commitment to promoting the agency's mission of erasing the impact of homelessness on children and their education.


  • Take a lead role in the database conversion project (from Talisma to eTapestry).
  • Responsible for providing quantitative input to the annual development plan, with specific, relative information.
  • Accurately maintain the donor database, creating new records, and updating existing records.
  • Process all donations, performing gift entries, and generating all donor acknowledgement letters.
  • Provide the philanthropy team and the finance department with philanthropy reports as requested.
  • Conduct donor and prospect research through wealth screening modules.
  • Become familiar with funders and contributors and recognize donor giving patterns, trends & opportunities.
  • Working with the Director of Advancement, identify opportunities to cultivate or solicit segmented and target markets; help identify consistent donors and donors with high giving capacity and inclination to give.
  • Create and manage a comprehensive calendar of events, activities, stewardship and outreach activities.
  • Develop and manage an annual process to track all donor correspondence/solicitations and stewardship activities (touch points) in the annual development plan.
  • Collaborate with Marketing & Communications Coordinator and the Volunteer & Event Coordinator in support of the Development goals, as outlined by the DOA.
  • Provide assistance and respond appropriately to donors and potential donors, ensuring their increased appreciation of A Child's Place.
  • Track in-kind contributions in eTapestry, provide an inventory of products, plus volume and value; generate acknowledgements.
  • Collaborate with Marketing & Communications coordinator on written correspondence, including donor solicitation letters, quarterly updated acknowledgement letters, grant reports and mid-year updates and as requested.
  • Update all acknowledgement letters on a quarterly basis.
  • Create tips for managing ETapestry in the internal quarterly newsletters or communications.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements 

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 2-3 years of Fundraising and/or directly related Donor Relations experience.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication, with a high degree of comfort talking with people from all backgrounds and experiences.
  • Must be proactive and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be flexible, with the ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects at the same time.
  • Strong MS Office applications experience and fundraising donor databases experience, or a strong desire to learn.
  • Knowledge and understanding of donor profiling, list management, list segmentation and donor acquisition.
  • Proficiency in Constant Contact or similar electronic mailing service.
  • Outstanding customer service and relationship building skills required.
