The Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) supports Safe Alliance's mission of providing hope and healing to those impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault by overseeing the development and implementation of the agency's operating budget, capital expenditure budget and grant budgets as well as managing grant compliance. The CSO also manages financial accounts and contracts and is the lead relationship manager for government grants. Additionally the CSO supports risk management for the agency including insurance management, financial policy/procedure management and supervising property management relationships.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Lead in the development of the agency budget and assist with forecasting the agency's financial status.
  • Manage the capital expenditure budget.
  • Create and/or oversee creation of budgets for all governmental and foundation grants.
  • Maintain contracts and ensure contract compliance. Ensure all grants are expended according to donor/funder intent, and ensure adherence to all funding restrictions and contract terms and conditions. Manage the release of restricted government and foundation funding in compliance with grant contracts/awards and accounting principles.
  • Analyze and reconcile agency financials (program and advancement) and work with the finance committee to provide finance information to the Board of Directors.
  • Work with the Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel on risk management. Participate in the placement of insurance for the agency. Prepare insurance applications. Maintain policy records, billing and claim information. 
  • Manage administration of all bank, brokerage (stock) and credit card accounts.

 

OTHER JOB DUTIES:

  • Maintain lead agency relationships with government funders.
  • Supervise grant manager in tracking the assignment, completion, and current status of foundation grants.
  • Manage all-staff meetings and agency meeting schedules.
  • Select, recruit, train, supervise, evaluate and recognize qualified staff, volunteers, and interns.
  • Maintain accurate program and agency records, including statistics and case tracking.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

MINIMUM  REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred
  • Six years' experience in creation/management of large nonprofit budgets ($5 million+) and government and foundation grants management. 
  • Knowledge of nonprofit accounting.
  • Supervisory experience.
