JOB PURPOSE

Under the guidance of a Program Manager, provide housing services which includes providing education on tenant rights and responsibilities as well as referrals to in-house and community resources. Honor the values and ethics of Community Link while providing prejudice-free and diversity-sensitive services to customers. Provide planning, oversight and support to individuals and families through assistance with obtaining and sustaining safe, decent and affordable housing.

RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY ACTIVITIES

  • Conduct thorough housing needs assessments of all new customers and assist during periods of crisis.
  • Coordinate customer referrals as appropriate to community resources.
  • Assist eligible participants with locating suitable housing accommodations and obtain a current, signed lease or occupancy agreement got participants residing in housing. Enter CoC Program Information into the Carolina Homeless information system (CHIN). Ensure participant rent satisfies HUD's standards for rent reasonableness and area FMR standards
  • Coordinate housing assistance payments with landlords.
  • Complete initial and annual HQS inspections for all assisted units and inform landlords of any deficiencies and needed repairs.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all program documents and records.
  • Maintain participant and CoC Program documentation, including all financial and programmatic records.
  • Issue commitment letters to all CoC customers and landlords regarding program status.
  • Attend and actively participate in interagency staff and multidisciplinary meetings.
  • Compile and submit reports to Program Manager weekly.
  • Bi-Monthly in person meetings will be required, at times video conferencing will be used to conduct staff meetings
  • Input data in a timely manner (24 hours).
  • Enter CoC Program information into the Homeless Management Information System.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • The employee is required to travel less than 50% of the time.
  • Travel may include trips to local meetings and occasional overnight travel to meetings or conferences.
  • Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, email or presentation software.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and reason objectively.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral expression
  • Ability to document accurately, concisely and in a timely manner.
  • Ability to handle a variety of duties.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.

Experience:

Two-Three years' experience in social services assessment and service delivery.

Experience based understanding of protocols related to real estate taxes, utilities management, and similar factors related to home occupancy.

Effective familiarity with Intellectual and Physical disabilities along with some knowledge about the Residential Real Estate sector and related codes.

Bilingual in Spanish preferred
