Job Summary: Under the supervision of the Director of Education Services, and in cooperation with other staff and volunteers, the Bridge Program and Special Literacy Instruction Coordinator will be directly responsible for all daily operations and functions of the middle school LEARN Works Bridge component as well as the Resource Center Classroom to provide individualized support for both elementary and middle school students in need of special education accommodations.

Part-time, seasonal (Mon. - Fri. 12:30 to 6:30 pm, end of July through mid-May, some nights, weekends and adjustment of schedule required)

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in education or closely related field preferred or a combination of education and skills may substitute.
  • Experience working with elementary and middle school students preferred.
  • Experience with working with students with disabilities preferred.
  • Strong relationship building and organizational skills needed.
  • Student centered, with the ability to relate to a range of constituents represented in and collaborating with the LEARN Works program.
  • Must already be familiar with or willing to learn and employ the program's philosophy utilizing Love and Logic principles in working children and families.
  • Computer proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Comfortable with conducting online instruction and familiar with online platforms and apps preferred.

  • CPR and First Aid Certified. If not currently certified at the time of hire, certification can be acquired shortly after.

Principle Functions:

Develop middle school and Resource Center Classroom program students academically:

  • Determine academic needs of students using teacher feedback, assessment data, academic intervention plans, and conversations with students.
  • Create individual student plans and implement instruction to improve each student's reading and math skills utilizing explicit instruction and incorporating established modification and accommodations.
  • Ensure each middle school student is working on assignments and other academic tasks in a manner that maintains or improves his/her overall grade point average.
  • Establish relationship with volunteers assigned to your classroom and effectively incorporate them into your instruction, providing them with direction and supervision, encouraging and considering their input.
  • Monitor, assess, and communicate the progress and achievement of each student on an ongoing basis to the director, students, and parents updating individual student plans as needed.

Work with specialists partners for additional academic support for Resource Center Classroom students.

Coordinate enrichment programming:

  • Develop and/or utilize established curriculums to implement lessons for students including career exploration as well as school options.
  • Collaborate with our Program Operations Coordinator for guest speaker, field trips, and other enrichment opportunities for the middle school program.
  • Collaborate with our LEARN Works Instructors for enrichment opportunities for the elementary school Resource Center Classroom students.
  • Ensure students complete evaluation or assessments as needed.

Manage classrooms and develop students' social skills:

  • Model student expectations and the Love and Logic philosophy for program participants.
  • Ensure the Love and Logic philosophy is consistently applied in classroom and other settings.
  • Provide participants with encouragement about their personal growth and development.
  • Establish routines and procedures for the classroom that maintain a safe, positive learning climate for participants.

Complete administrative/routine tasks:

  • Complete efforts in data base.
  • Create and update individual student plans/lesson plans.
  • Enter quarterly GPAs and other assessment data in database.
  • Submit monthly reports of student progress to the director.

Manage personal growth:

  • Attend training sessions as required.
  • Participate in the development of the program
  • Attend staff meetings.
  • Communicate with director and colleagues about needs and concerns.
  • Assess personal performance.
